Become a Foster Home
Open your heart and home—become a foster parent for an animal in need.
As a foster, you’ll temporarily care for a dog or cat while we work to find them a permanent home. Your role helps us learn more about the animal’s personality, behavior, and needs—information that is essential for successful adoptions.
Here’s what fostering with EAPL looks like
Basic Care & Support
Help the pet adjust, provide daily care, and work on training if needed.
Patience & Love
Many pets come from shelters and need time, understanding, and kindness.
Medical Covered
EAPL pays for all vet care and provides food.
You’re never alone—we’ll support you every step of the way.
If you’re interested in fostering dogs, we’ll do our best to match you with your preferences—whether that’s by size, age, or temperament. For example, if you prefer puppies, let us know if you’re more comfortable with large or small breeds.
How long will you have the animal?
There’s no guaranteed timeframe, but our goal is always to find a forever home as quickly as possible. We actively promote adoptable pets through Petfinder, over 30 national adoption websites, four local social media pages, community bulletin boards, and frequent adoption events (weather permitting, we host two or more per month).
Once you submit your Foster Application, EAPL will conduct a background check and home visit before placing you with an animal. For additional details, please click on the links above.
