The Evergreen Animal Protective League (EAPL) was organized in April, 1981 to aid lost, abandoned, and suffering animals through rescue, shelter, and education. Since that time, the League has provided a better life for thousands of cats, dogs, and other pets.
Who We Are
- We are entirely volunteer run for all rescue operations— no paid directors, employees, or rescue volunteers.
- Most of our volunteers work full-time jobs and generously donate their evenings and weekends to help animals.
- We operate a retail Thrift Store on Meadow Drive, with all profits directly supporting our rescue efforts.
- The store is staffed by 3 part-time employees and a team of caring volunteers.
- Donations of gently used items and in-store purchases help fund our mission.
Thrift Store Support
How We’re Funded
- We receive no government or tax-based support.
- Our work is made possible through:
- Public donations
- Fundraising activities
- Proceeds from our Thrift Store
- Adoption fees do not cover the full cost of care—we rely on community support to make up the difference.
- Rescue and shelter abandoned pets (as space allows)
- Rehome unclaimed animals through our adoption program
- Reunite lost pets with their families via lost & found records
- Provide pet registration tags
- Offer advice on basic pet behavior issues(but we’re not a substitute for veterinary care)

How You Can Help
Where to Find Us
EAPL is a foster-based rescue organization and does not operate a centralized shelter. Most of our animals live in loving foster homes throughout Evergreen, nearby mountain communities, and along the Front Range Corridor until they are adopted. We do have a dedicated Cat Adoption Center located inside Chow Down Pet Supply in the Bergen Park Shopping Center in Evergreen. This cozy, one-room space for adult cats is generously donated by the owners of Chow Down, and it gives our adoptable cats a safe, welcoming place to meet their future families.
EAPL also runs a retail Thrift Store at 27888 Meadow Drive, just outside downtown Evergreen (across the street from Da Kind Soups). All profits from the store go directly to supporting our animal rescue efforts.
