Who We Are
We are entirely volunteer run for all rescue operations— no paid directors, employees, or rescue volunteers.
Most of our volunteers work full-time jobs and generously donate their evenings and weekends to help animals.
We operate a retail Thrift Store in Evergreen, CO, with all profits directly supporting our rescue efforts.
The store is staffed by paid employees and a team of caring volunteers.
Donations of gently used items and in-store purchases help fund our mission.

How You Can Help
EAPL is licensed by the State of Colorado under the Pet Animal Care Facilities Act (PACFA) to operate a Small Animal Rescue as well as 2 Small Animal Shelter licenses.
EAPL is required to renew each license annually and operations under each license are inspected annually by the State PACFA inspector.
Evergreen Animal Protective League is a 501(c)(3) charity recognized by the Internal Revenue Service since 1981. Our EIN # is 74-2204391.
EAPL is not supported by any federal, state, or local government funding or taxes. Our funding is from Public Donations, Fundraising Activities, Proceeds from our Thrift Store, and Adoption Fees.
EAPL’s greatest expense for our rescue operation is for veterinary services for the animals–only 11% is used for operating and fundraising so almost 90% of the funds we receive go directly to the animals.
The rescue operations for EAPL are performed entirely by uncompensated volunteers, including Board members. EAPL’s Thrift Shop, whose profits go entirely to the rescue operations, is operated by the only paid folks in EAPL.
EAPL’s Form 990s are available by request. Please email us at eaplevergreen@eapl.com to request these forms.
Where to Find Us
EAPL is a foster-based rescue organization and does not operate a centralized shelter. Most of our animals live in loving foster homes throughout Evergreen, nearby mountain communities, along the Front Range Corridor, and throughout other parts of Colorado until they are adopted. We do have a dedicated cat adoption shelter located inside Chow Down Pet Supply in the Bergen Park Shopping Center in Evergreen. This cozy, one-room space for adult cats is generously donated by the owners of Chow Down, and it gives our adoptable cats a safe, welcoming place to meet their future families.
EAPL also runs a retail thrift store in Evergreen. All profits from the store go directly to supporting our animal rescue efforts.
